- As per report of 2008 from the Pratham (ASER, 2009) only 61% of the class V student could tell the time on the clock correctly. Pratham’s Report for the year 2010 (ASER, 2011) says that “Only 53.4% children in Standard-V can read a Standard-II level text.
- In Sept’ 2013, Zee news reported that Inequality in earnings has doubled in India over the last two decades. The top 10% of wage earners now make 12 times more than the bottom 10%, up from a ratio of six in the 1990s.
- A 2007 study found that discharge of untreated sewage is the main source of pollution in surface and ground water in India. India lacks sufficient treatment capacity and the existing treatment plants are also not maintained
